Yes you read it damn right, Maudlin is dead, long live .maudlin

So there is no need to be dramatic or anything alike. It’s nothing more then a slight name change. There were some troubles with a name like ‘band’ and we had 2 options… doing this name change or delay our plans for the North American release until after a trial, which would have cost us money and time and obviously we lack both of them. And since we feel so welcome and home at the FORGOTTEN EMPIRE RECORDS family, we didn’t had the urge to delay our plans.

Speaking about our plans, “Ionesco” comes out for Northern America somewhere in June 2009. It will have some layout changes, so if you’re European and into the “Ionesco” concept you might want to become an owner of one of these. If you’re an American, then this might be your exploration of .maudlin

Other plans… the limited “Ionesco” Mexican tape release is about to see the day of light. It has very cool and fitting artwork especially made for this release. The tape will be available in 4 different colours, 25 items of each colour. I don’t know what you think, but as being a collector myself my mind starts tripping with just the thought of this.

Oh, cultivate yourself and check the bands at FORGOTTEN EMPIRE, you’ll be amazed and also check our OFFERANDUM labelbuddies CARNEIA, who receive amazing reviews all over!

Okay since it has been a while since our last update here is some info about what we’re up to these days.

We’re very happy to announce that we are in a very creative period with the band. The creation of new songs goes smooth, and to my humble opinion, the best MAUDLIN songs aren’t recorded yet… so I hope you’ll get as psyced as we do. Don’t expect them live very soon, we got about 30 minutes of new music and we will set up a “try out” sooner or later.

We also started booking our 4th European tour. If you are interested to get us in your city, get in touch! We’ll be touring all over Europe from 31st of July until 16th of August.

I think I said we had the luck and the privelege to see these arms are snakes & russian circles 3 times live this tour. Well, we couldn’t resist to wave them out, jumped in the car, drove to London and said bye again. What a hell of a show it was!! It’s always fun if the bouncers are overworried about Steve… it was a hell of a show from both bands!

Okay, first things first… This weekend the 15th we play Eernegem with lots of cool bands, be sure to check CARNEIA also!

Ow man, are we lucky bastards, we saw THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES & RUSSIAN CIRCLES perform 3 times this tour, and each time it ended in a party! It’s great hanging with these guys! They each released a brand new album on SUICIDE SQUEEZE, so go and check it out. Both bands have shitloads of other cool releases, and we recommand you to give it your attention.

Our tourreport got delayed, we seem to miss a lot of pictures, so here we are asking you for help… any MAUDLIN picture of the tour is welcome. Of course we’d love to see those pictures from not-tour-shows also!

We know out of the mails that we receive that a lot of people are curious after our tourreport, but please be patient on this one. Yet again it was a hell of an adventure and we’re still looking for the right words and images to capture it and tell our story.

Concerning our tour we already would like to make this statement. It wouldn’t have worked out or have been that cool without these people taking care for us. And by taking care we mean the whole package like lending us a venue, promote the show, feeding us, give a drinks, a good sleeping place,… Yes, this one is for Sam & Jelle from Antwerp, Stijn from Poison My Blood, Jana Prague, Vendel from Vostok Room, Boco & Ideal Bar, Mia Zlatarog, Ingo from I corrupt shows, Arthur & Under the pledge of secressy. This “thank you very much” is very deep rooted in our hearts!

We received some crazy mails on thursday. Asking us if we could play Saterday 8/11 in Koege, Denmark and 9/11 in Merksplas, Belgium. We hoped to play both shows, unfortunately we received the vital information for Koege too late, sorry guys!! Hopefully next time! But, more luck for Merksplas as we will play there tonight at JH Zigzag.

Oh, 21st of November our friends in SENSUAL NOISE release their demo, check out our myspace and look them up in our topfriends to find a solution on the what-when-where questions.

The next MAUDLIN tour will take place in July-August 2009, so organisers from all over Europe, we would love to hear from you as MAUDLIN still is 100% DIY.

**…Another list this album is on, is that “Best Albums Of 2008″-list of mine…not because I feel this is indeed one of the best offerings within the genre, but because these guys are darn good at what they do, away from musical genre! Next to those reviews we’d also would like to let you know that we’re in the middle of a creative period again. New songs are written at the moment of speaking, I guess we have the foundations for 4 songs, but as usual those songs still have to grow. We’re not planning studio-time immediately, but we’re not sitting on our asses also, you’ll notice if you check our myspace and see our upcoming showlist… but need we to say that we still want more shows?!!

Last weekend we played the releaseshow of our labelbuddies CARNEIA. What a hell of a show it was… the place was sold out & CARNEIA proved to be an amazing band! Really, check out their album “white coma light” you will love it… at least we do.

After the amazing news in the previous post about the cd-release on FORGOTTEN EMPIRE RECORDS for the United States, we now come with more incredible news:
“Ionesco” will also be available on tape in Mexico, through ZOMERKAMP RECORDS. Fafutis, the man behind ZOMERKAMP, has more plans with MAUDLIN, but as he is so enthousiast he wanted to do something on short terms. So at the end of September the very limited tape (100 pieces handnumbered) with new artwork from Fafutis will be available. We do not speak about home-recorded tapes, but about colored tapes, manufactured, professional booklet,… Only a small amount of the tapes will be available in Europe through us. This is one for the fast and the furious, no pré-orders, we post when the tapes are here, then you can mail for your copy!

We are pretty psyched that we can announce this: our album “ionesco” will come out in the States around the end of 2008. We are proud to be a part of the FORGOTTEN EMPIRE RECORDS family… the label has amazing releases!! Check it out! More details about this release will follow in the future!

As I’m just back from the annual Ieperfest I must say that it was an amazing year, a very cool edition… I was thrilled about meeting that many new people again. It’s always cool when someone comes up to me and starts to talk about MAUDLIN, you’ll never get me bored with that… I love the band, I’m totally down with what we do, so I’m never done talking about it. So to all of you: thank you!!

Sorry for the fucked up Flemish speech inbetween the 2 songs. Normally I say nothing… but since we had troubles loading the samples we suddenly had an awkward silent moment. I tried to fill the gap, but realised too late that I was standing in front of an international public. Anyway, you didn’t miss a thing.

As some people who are following us for a while now may have noticed, Tim (keys, samples, some vocals) wasn’t with us. He was replaced by our good friend Maarten on the keys, while Ewould from SENSUAL NOISE helped us out with the backings.
